Beauty Tips From Indie Belle Shailene Woodley

The Fault In Our Stars and The Spectacular Now actress had an interview with Into The Gloss last March 12. They talked about her new young-adult flick Divergent, which is based on the first book of Veronica Roth’s dystopian trilogy. Shailene or “Shay”, as her fans like to call her, is gaining celebrity buzz these days describing her as the new Jennifer Lawrence, which is crazy because the only thing this celebrity wants to be right now is to be the only “Shay”.

Aside from chatting about her craft as an actress, Shailene also shared some beauty tips that we think are worth noting.

On going organic when it comes to her beauty products:

“I love a natural way to heal. You can do something called ‘oil pulling’ where you swish coconut or sesame oil in your mouth when you wake up and spit it out. It’s amazing! It really makes your teeth whiter, because the plaque on your teeth is not water soluble, it’s fat-soluble. So, the lipids have to dissolve in fats, which is why oil works in your mouth. I prefer sesame oil, but they’re both good.”

“Hair-wise, I’m very lucky. My mom is 45 and she doesn’t have a single grey hair on her head. It’s the most beautiful, thick, strawberry blond. I basically have horse hair. It’s so low-maintenance. The less I put in it, the better. When it was long, I used shampoo from Living Libations, but now it’s really short. I only shampoo it like once a month—the oilier, the better.”

In another interview from E! Online, Shailene’s makeup artist gushes about her and their love towards DIY beauty. When asked about what new green ideas the earth-loving actress has introduced to her, she replied:

“We love to use olive oil to take off her eye makeup, and now it's something that I do on my own too. It actually nourishes the lash hair and the skin around the eye. It's a fail proof yet totally gentle way of removing eye makeup.”

This hippie, eco-friendly thespian is surely someone to watch out for. Catch Shailene Woodley in Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars as they hit theaters this 21st of March and 6th of June, respectively.
