Why Giving Up Is Perfectly Fine To Be Happy

Life is supposed to be wonderfully live. In order to have a fulfilling journey in this marvellous world, we have to be
happy. Happiness is a state of contentment and it is more of a choice rather than a product of circumstance.
But what's stopping us from being completely happy? Below are 8 reasons that we should give up so we can say
that we are living a happy life.

1. Give up complaining.
To complain is to express dissatisfaction or annoyance about a state of affairs or event. While it is not a crime to
complain, too much of it will make you an ungrateful person. You have to give up complaining especially on little
misfortunes. The world you live in is not perfect and many unlikely things will happen to you. However, if you
keep on complaining and portray a negative reaction to bad situations, you are just making the load even heavier.
You have to develop an attitude of gratefulness. When life throws stone at you, throw back bread instead. This may
sound so cliche but very applicable to us. Start to appreciate the beauty in everything even if it seems the ugliest.
2. Give up trying to impress others.
Being appreciated is euphoric. Human as we are, we like attention especially when it comes to people we value so
much. But we are not always at our best and we cannot please everyone every time. Give up trying to impress
others to the point of pretending to be someone you really are not. Be a first rate version of yourself rather than a
copycat. Believe me, it is not a good idea to create another person out of your own self. Let others see you as you
are, not perfect but real.
3. Give up being too self-righteous.
You are not always right. You are not at all time morally superior. When you consider yourself above others and
think of them as lesser human beings, you are absolutely placing yourself in exclusivity. It's not bad to have your
own principles and beliefs, just make sure those will not degrade others.
4. Give up the sad past.
We all have sad memories of the past. Don't dwell on those ugly experiences too much or it will eat you alive.
Yes, you can look back but don't let it bother your present and future. Learn a lesson or two from the past and start
anew. Be a better person than you are yesterday. Remember, happiness is a choice and not a product of
circumstance.
5. Give up living to others expectations.
This is a little similar to number 2. You cannot be truly happy when you are living to others standards. You are your
own unique self. Be the standard. Improve yourself accordingly by doing better every time but do it in your own
pace. People will always say something about you even if you give your best shot.
6. Give up fears.
Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that something dangerous or harmful will happen to you.
Too much fear causes paranoia or mistrust. You have to give up unnecessary fear so it wont hinder you from being
happy. As they say, face your fears. True enough, have the courage to face your greatest fear and conquer it.
You only live once so don't miss spectacular things in life.
7. Give up lying/pretending.
Pretending is when you speak or act about something as if it's real when in fact it is not. Lying is telling something
misleading, inaccurate, or falsely. When you practice lying or pretending, it connotes to others that you cannot be
trusted. Trust is an essential element to happiness.
Lastly...
8. Give up pushing yourself to be loved by someone who only sees you as a friend.
Love is not forced. While some friends end up being lovers, when the feeling is not the same with the other person
it just won't work. If he or she sees you as only a friend and the feeling of brotherly or sisterly love is more
powerful, let it the way it should be. Don't ruin the good foundation of friendship insisting you can be more than
that. You deserve a kind of happiness found in a love that is genuine and not forced.
