Aromatherapy
soothes
the mind and the body. It is the use of fragrant essential oils from plants to
alter one’s mood and prop up health. But before doing any aromatherapy session,
dab the chosen essential oil on your skin and wait for 24 hours to see if you
have an allergic reaction to it.
Here is a list of some of
our favorite scents and their corresponding effects to one’s mood and health.
-
Lemon oils for when you’re feeling
depressed.
-
Lavender for when you’re feeling agitated.
-
Chamomile to ease anxiety.
-
Cinnamon for when you’re in pain.
-
Grapefruit provides relief from stress.
-
Rose eases premenstrual syndrome.
-
Orange to pick your spirits up.
-
Rosemary for focus.
-
Peppermint when you need to be productive.
You can recreate your own
aromatherapy session at home by following these simple ways:
Add 10-15 drops of
your favorite oil in your warm bath. Soak in the aroma infused water for as
long as 15 minutes.
Add 3-5 drops of
oil in a basin of hot water. Drape a towel loosely over your head and shoulders
while leaning over the basin. Inhale and feel your mood level rise.
Add 5-10 drops of
your favorite oil for every ounce of your unscented hair product.
Add 5-10 drops of
chosen essential oil to every ounce of your favorite unscented lotion.
5. Use it as your own perfume.
Create your own
scent by mixing your selected essential oil and a carrier oil (e.g. grape seed oil, canola oil, mineral oil).
