DIY Hair Treatments

Is your hair dry, coarse and a little bit damaged? Or, does your mane look lifeless and needs a little bit of oomph. If you answered yes to either of the questions, it seems that somebody needs a hair spa. We’re not talking about the usual hair treatment that we get from our local hair salon. You can have your own hair care regimen right within the corners of your own home.

Here are a few do-it-yourself hair masks to give that locks of yours some life.

1.     Avocado Mask

This green exotic fruit is not only a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which aids for proper brain functioning. It is also a good moisture-trapping hair mask to give your hair the shine it needs. Its oils and proteins smoothen and moisturize your strands without weighing down fine hair.

Shampoo hair first then, apply on your hair a mix of half of an avocado with some drops of peppermint essential oil (or just plain avocado is ok). Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse. Your hair will come out super soft and even with the natural avocado oils, it won’t be flat and greasy. Plus, the scent is divine. Add some egg yolk on the concoction for extra sheen.

2.     Sugar Water

For frizzy hair, try spraying some sugar water. Just mix a teaspoon of sugar with a cup of water then put it in a spray bottle for efficient use. Ta-daaah! You just made your own hair spray.

3.     Baking Soda Hair Mask

This product really is the jack-of-all-trades when it comes to doing beauty regimens. Combine a handful of shampoo with one to two tablespoons of baking soda and massage into hair.

If you’ve recently coloured your hair, you might skip this hair mask because it will strip out the hue out of your strands. Unless you’re not happy of what the salon gave you and wanted to lighten the colour a bit then, be my guest.
